Gwyneth Paltrow cooking topless in Umbria manages to annoy Italians with her “Italian breakfast”

For Gwyneth Paltrow, the perfect way to unwind in a world that grows more turbulent by the day is by cooking up a few culinary delights in the kitchen. The actress is a big fan of Mediterranean cuisine - particularly Italian and Spanish food but some of the concoctions she has created and posted online have not always been favorably received by her fellow foodies.

Gwyneth’s tasty tortilla

She learned how to make a tortilla de patatas (Spanish omelette) from Julia, the head of the host family she stayed with as a teenage foreign exchange student in Talavera de la Reina. Gwyneth‘s version is similar to a paisana tortilla, with chopped chorizo for extra flavor. No faulting her technique - a confident, brisk flip onto a plate and straight back into the pan. The result earned her plenty of praise on Instagram and was a hit with her partner, Brad Falchuk.

Like the Spanish, Italians are fiercely proud of their cuisine and can be quite fussy about the right and wrong ways to cook their traditional dishes. Gwyneth’s sausage-filled piadina, a staple of Italian street food, got mixed reviews but it seems she’s upset a section of her followers with her latest video, part of the ‘boyfriend breakfast’ reels filmed in her kitchen at her Montecito home in California.

Poached eggs

The 52-year-old actress surprised her fans by ditching her apron to go topless as she rustled up a high protein, Tuscan white bean skillet for hungry hubby Brad.

Dressed just in a pair of white shorts, Paltrow teasingly hovered over the hob with her back to the camera with Prince’s Starfish and Coffee playing as background music.

She captioned the video: “This was a Tuscan-inspired high-protein #boyfriendbreakfast skillet with sausage from the local butcher, white beans, spinach, cherry tomatoes, and of course eggs”.

It instantly went viral, drawing hundreds of comments and over 143,000 likes. “Lil dangerous to be cooking with no shirt on” one follower noted, “Anything for attention” added another.

Jamie Oliver claims the title as as the original naked chef, but it looks like he now has a new competitor. And who knows, maybe it could be baps for breakfast in the next installment - stay tuned!
